We have been informed that Helias Catholic High School has appeared on at least one nonpartisan website’s lists of donors to a political campaign and we have received questions about this. We value transparency and accuracy and we wish to state clearly: Helias Catholic High School and/or The Foundation for the Benefit of Helias Catholic High School, Inc. does not make contributions to political campaigns. We are both a 501 (c)(3) organization and we do not directly or indirectly participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. We support our employees in expressing their First Amendment rights as citizens and we do not coerce, encourage or discourage employees to endorse any candidate for elective public office.

The way in which the website explains its lists of donors’ employers could lead some of its viewers to assume incorrectly that the high school itself made a contribution or donors made a contribution on behalf of the high school. Again, that is inaccurate. We encourage all who have the goal of reforming and improving our political processes and systems to champion responsible civic engagement with transparency and accuracy.
