2009 Hall of Fame Event a Memorable Occasion

The induction ceremony for the 2009 Helias Hall of Fame was held April 19, 2009.
The Hall of Fame inductees were selected based upon their service to Helias and involvement not only with Helias, but in the community as well.  Pictured are (front row) Helen Vossen (on behalf of John "Bud" Vossen), Bernard J. Fechtel, Thomas H. Rost, Dale A. Amick and Donald O. Schnieders (back row) Brother Steven Schonhoff (on behalf of Brother James Abell, FSC), Chelle Luebbering Shepard, Peggy Willibrand Kolb and Father Chris Cordes.

281 attended the induction ceremony which included a Mass for the inductees and their families con-celebrated by Fr. Doyle and Fr. Cordes, social hour (courtesy of Summit Lake Winery, Fechtel Beverage, Scheppers Distributing, Dr. Pepper / 7Up Bottling Group and Jefferson City Coca-Cola Bottling Company), dinner, and program (emceed by KRCG's Mike Roberts).  The event took place in the Helias Commons, which was transformed from school cafeteria to banquet hall thanks to tables and linens donated by Capitol Plaza Hotel, and beautiful decorations created and provided by Helias graduate, Mike Bruns with the help of Marti Dupuis, Matt Nutt and Kembra Springs.  Special thanks to Cathy Kolb for writing the biographies for each of our inductees, Kolb Properties (Larry and Cathy Kolb) for their donation of wine for the pre-induction dinner and to Peggy Landwehr for creating the 2009 Hall of Fame Inductee video as well as taking photographs during the event.

Over 42 Helias students volunteered to move tables and set up for the event, serve dinner, and clean up afterward.  These young men and women represented Helias well.  Their service did not go unnoticed; many positive comments were made by guests about how well the Helias students conducted themselves and worked to ensure a successful Second Annual Hall of Fame event.

Thanks to all those who helped make this event successful, and congratulations to the 2009 Hall of Fame Inductees!
