Announcing the 2008 Helias Hall of Fame presented for outstanding achievement and service to Helias High School.

 

James Wisch '68

James (Jim) B. Wisch is a lifelong resident of Jefferson City. He is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a 1968 graduate of Helias High School. Jim graduated Cum Laude from Lincoln University in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Building Engineering and Construction. Also in 1972, he married the former Susie Forck, a 1969 Helias graduate. They are parents of Amy Wolters, Dr. Sara Echelmeyer, and Lisa Borgmeyer, all of whom graduated from Helias, and grandparents of Kayla & Lucas Wolters, Gabe Borgmeyer, Alli Echelmeyer, (and two on the way!).

Jim is the owner of Wavco Construction. He has been involved in community and church organizations throughout hi s life and has volunteered and served on many committees and projects. He has served on the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Jefferson City Mayor's Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, Jefferson City Public Schools Task Force and on the Board of Directors for the Associated Builders and Contractors, Heart of America Chapter. Jim is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, National Wildlife Federation, Duck's Unlimited, and National Wood Carvers, among many other organizations.

Jim's involvement with Helias includes many projects and activities. His Helias volunteerism has been a rewarding experience for him as he and his good friend, Jim Rackers, planned many projects together for the benefit of Helias. Jim has served on the Helias School Board, as past Building Committee Chair, President of the School Board, Fieldhouse Design Team Chair, Fieldhouse Steering Committee, Construction Manager Field House, Long Range Planning Committee and Helias High School Capital Improvement Campaign Steering Committee among many others. Jim has been a tireless volunteer while serving as general contractor and design contractor for numerous projects including the Helias fieldhouse, cafeteria and classroom expansions, chapel, locker room renovations, parking lots, library and administrative offices. His personal time and resource support are immeasurable.

Jim is a proud alumni and "a loyal, involved Catholic who demonstrates excellent personal Christian demeanor and decorum which always reflects well on himself, his family, his business and Helias."
