Announcing the 2010 Helias Hall of Fame presented for outstanding achievement and service to Helias High School.

 

Judy Schneider
 

Judy Schneider was born in Jefferson City, the daughter of Raymond and Clara Boessen. Judy is a 1968 graduate of Helias High School, and a graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City with a degree in education. She is married to Gene Schneider, and they have one son, Chris. Chris is a 2004 graduate of Helias. Judy and her family are members of St. Peter's parish.

While a student at Helias, Judy was an active participant in Pepettes and was a class president and member of the student council. She served the Honor Society as president and secretary and was a member of the Girls Athletic Association. Following college graduation, Judy held her first teaching position at St. Francis Xavier school. She was a teacher and coach at Helias High School from 1974 until 1984 where she coached girls' track, volleyball, tennis and basketball. In 1984, Judy went to work at JCD Furniture family business. She retired in 2007.

Judy has been a tireless volunteer in the community, at Helias and in her parish. She is a past member of St. Mary's Board of Regents, and currently is a member of St. Mary's Foundation Board and vice president of St. Mary's Ladies Auxiliary Board. She is a dedicated volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Judy is a past member of St. Peter's Foundation Board, is vice president of Home and School Board and has been vice president and president of Ladies Sodality and chairman for Capital Campaign.

Judy's devotion to Helias has been exceptional. In addition to her years of service on the faculty, she served the school in countless volunteer capacities from unpaid substitute teacher to assisting in the office in many capacities. She is a past member of the Helias Foundation Board and past Foundation Drive chairman. In 2003, Judy received the Jim Rackers Commitment to Excellence Award...a well-deserved and most appropriate honor for such a dedicated Helias family member.
