Louis Rackers '43 |

Louis H. Rackers was born and raised in Jefferson City, the son of Louis G. and Regina Rackers. He is a 1943 graduate of St. Peter's High School. He and his late wife, Louise, were married 54 years and had three children: Louis, Stephen and Joan. Following high school, Louis enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1943, served 42 months in the Pacific and attained the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Returning to Missouri following WWII, he enrolled at St. Louis University, graduating cum laude in 1949 with a major in accounting and a minor in philosophy. He has been a long-time active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church.
Louis began his professional career with Williams-Keeper, LLC, in 1950. His military service interrupted his career and took him again to the Pacific This time to Korea in 1951. Once back in Missouri, he passed his CPA examination in 1954, and became Owner/Partner in 1961 of Williams-Keeper LLC. Louis has been an active community, parish, diocese and Helias volunteer and supporter. He has held numerous positions with Memorial Community Hospital and is a Life Member of the Board of Governors of Capital Region Medical Center. He has served on the Planned Giving Committee of Memorial Community Hospital Foundation and has been a member of the Institutional Review Board from its inception to date. He has memberships in the County Historical Society, American Legion, Missouri Society of C.P.A's (life member), Knight's of Columbus and many others. He has served on the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and in the Rotary Club for more than 30 years. He has been deeply involved with the Vitae Caring Foundation, United Community Fund and Boy Scouts of America.
Louis was the second president of the Helias School Board. He also served as vice president, treasurer, and board member. He was a member of the building committee for several years. His dedication to serving others has been appreciated and admired for many years, and his volunteer time has been a tremendous benefit to Helias.
