Announcing the 2008 Helias Hall of Fame presented for outstanding achievement and service to Helias High School.

Larry Kolb '68

Larry F. Kolb is the son of Paul and Carmen Kolb and brother to Judy, Marilyn, Melanie, Vince and Jeff, all of whom graduated from Helias High School. Larry graduated from Helias in 1968 and attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. Larry married Cathy Bryant in 1980. Cathy was an English teacher at Helias from 1980 through 1988. Larry is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.

Larry is the owner of Kolb Properties, a commercial real estate business. Larry served 10 years on the Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission. He currently serves on the Jefferson City Economic Advisory Committee, St. Mary's Health Center Board of Regents and St. Mary's Hospital Health Center, Jefferson City, Foundation. He was Chairman of the Pacesetter Gift Division for St. Mary's Foundation Centennial Campaign for Technology. In Washington, D.C. in 2001, Larry was inducted into the United States Jaycees Hall of Leadership Foundation. Larry has served on the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, received the Jefferson City Realtor of the Year Award and Jefferson City Realtor Associate of the Year Award. In 2005, the Missouri Association of Realtors awarded Larry the Richard A. Mendenhall Award, given to a realtor from the state of Missouri who has been chosen by his peers for "serving as a realtor role model at the local, state and national levels."

Larry has served Helias in several capacities including president of the Helias Athletic Booster Club and Chairman of the 1994 Foundation Drive. For several years, he served on the Foundation Board of Directors, the Helias Advisory Board and the Helias Foundation Investment Committee. He has played in and been a major sponsor for the annual Helias Golf Tournament. Although Larry and Cathy do not have children, Larry volunteered for many years at the all-night Project Graduation for graduating seniors. In 2007, Larry and Cathy purchased and donated a life insurance policy naming Helias Foundation as the beneficiary, and they genuinely hope others will consider similar ways of gifting to Helias.

"Larry's love of Helias goes beyond being a proud alumni. He treasures the values of faith, hard work and ethics taught him by Helias teachers, staff and, in particular, by Jim Rackers, whom he considered a friend, mentor and inspiration."
